The MPMRCL has advanced its preparations to launch Indore’s Super Priority Corridor. Routes and fare of the metro have been already finalised.
Indore Metro: Indories will soon be able to take a metro ride as the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation is finally gearing up to begin Indore Metro’s operations. Indore Metro is an under construction mass rapid transit system (MRTS) being built to serve Indore. Indore is the most populous and largest city of Madhya Pradesh. The MPMRCL has advanced its preparations to launch Indore’s Super Priority Corridor. Routes and fare of the metro have been already finalised. The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety gave the green signal after thorough inspections of the arrangements.
According to reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to flag off the metro service in a spectacular inauguration ceremony. However, it is important to note that inauguration date of the Indore Metro has not been disclosed yet.
Fare And Route
The first phase of the metro will run between Super Corridor and Gandhinagar Station Number Three. The metro will operate from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on all days of the week. Around 50 trips will be made daily. A train will run every 30 minutes and will be adjusted further according to passenger’s demand.
Fare Zones:
The fare of Indore Metro has been divided into five zones with a total of 28 stations. In a move to facilitate and encourage commuters, fare will be free for the starting week. They will be allowed to travel without a ticket. However, after the first week, commuters will be charged. Here’s the breakdown of prices according to different zones:
Zone 1 (1–2 stations): Rs 20
Zone 2 (3–5 stations): Rs 30
Zone 3 (6–8 stations): Rs 40
Zone 4 (9–11 stations): Rs 50
Zone 5 (12–14 stations): Rs 60
15th station to last: Rs 80
The Yellow metro line of Indore metro will feature 28 stations, out of which 21 are elevated and 7 are underground. The total length of this line is 31.32 km, out of which 22.62 km is elevated and 8.7 km is underground.
How Will It Benefit commuters?
Indore Commuters will largely benefit from the launch of this metro line. It will reduce Travel Time and Costs, enhance productivity, ensure safe and reliable modern Commuting. People can avoid hour long traffic congestion by opting a metro ride to reach their destination.
Indore Metro Phase 1 Lines:
Yellow Line (Line-3): Bengali Square – Palasia – Airport – Vijay Nagar – Radisson Square – Khajarana – Bengali Square (Ring Line).
Indore Metro Rail Project:
In the first stage, the Indian Government approved construction of the 31.55 KM Ring Line named as the Yellow Line passing through Gandhi Nagar via six Super Corridor Stations to Bhawarsla Chauraha-Malviya Nagar- Indore Railway Station-Rajwada- Airport and back to Gandhi Nagar.
There would be 21 elevated and 7 underground stations in the Ring Line. The Depot is located at Gandhi Nagar. The cost of the Indore project has been approved for Rs 7500.80 Cr. part of which is funded by loans from Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the New Development Bank (NDB) and the remaining is shared equally by Centre Government and Madhya Pradesh Government.
